Welcome to Love My Bones

            Pensacola Osteoporosis Support Group

I started the Love My Bones support group when I began to realize there was no place I could go to find answers about osteoporosis.  I have had osteoporosis for many years and ignored it because I didn't know what to do.  Doctors didn't tell me anything about diet, exercise - nothing - just take drugs with dangerous side effects.

Finally,  I decided enough was enough. I thought there must be others like me who feel alone, bewildered, confused, and need support.

I contacted Cokesbury United Methodist Church and ask if I could hold a support group there, and they not only said yes, but allowed me to put posters up and even announced it in the bulletin.

The new support group meets the third Tuesday of each month at Cokesbury on 9th Ave. We meet at 6:30pm in the Atrium.  January 17th was our 3rd meeting.  A new member came who does Yoga and before we knew it she had us standing up, stretching, breathing and laughing.  I got the most fun watching a member whoes jeans were so tight she couldn't bend her legs to do the exercises.  I am still smiling. I'll bet she'll think twice before attending the next time in tight jeans.

This year promises to be fun, exciting, entertaining and support building. We plan to talk about excersies, diet, nutrition, supplements and even medication to build bone mineral mass. We'll also share information about books, videos and lectures on oesteoporisis.

We  welcome everyone, both women and men, who needs encouragement to join us.

This blog will provide us with a means of staying connected and getting information.  Please feel free to write articles or provide information for it.  Contact me at (850) 484-0902. Or e-mail me at sfmada@aol.com.
